The end of the season has come and gone. Next year the Olympics are in town.
Olym-Pinks is still on gardening leave and needless to say, having 18 months off injured leading up to London 2012 rules him out of even helping with crowd control. He will be enjoying winter and spring in his large playground recuperating before eventing again.
Wow Mystic Pink will be up and running again at Christmas and now that she has advanced points will be looking forward to an early CCI **.
The yard has had great success mainly in the form of my yard manager, Daniel Griffiths, who has qualified Andy Castle's horse Benji for the grassroots final at Badminton next year. Really pleased for owner, rider and horse! There is a queue of people offering to groom. I also wish Andy a speedy recovery from his fractured vertebrae, achieved out hunting.
We have two new members of staff, Megan and Louise. Sadie has been doing really well with her horse Shannon and next year will be her first 3 day.
I had a great week at Weston Park, coaching the Wales and Borders U18 team. Really enjoyed working with Louise Shepard and Richard Carruthers who had got a great team of riders together. I am looking forward to seeing more of them all next season.
I am currently in Indonesia in the final build up to the SEA Games, the eventing competition starts next week. The team has been chosen and there is a great team spirit. Myanmar are here having gained their first ever FEI registered qualification. I coached their event team at the test event and they are very excited to be able to compete at the games next week.
A very exciting time ahead.
All the best,
Joss.
August 2011 The past few weeks have seen all at JGE out competing, lots of smiling faces returning in the lorries from the events.
I have been out competing on Lily who is now an Advanced horse after only two full season competing. Olly, my other advanced horse is on the World Class Equine Pathway and is back in work so fingers crossed for next season.
I'm really looking forward to taking Moorea to her first event at Highclere at the end of this month.
I took my UKCC 3 a couple of weeks ago and am pleased that I passed as this summer is a busy one. I am off to Indonesia again this month for a week in the build up to the South East Asian Games in November. The team of riders are a really dedicated and hard working group and I am very much enjoying working with them.
August seems to be flying and my youngest sister, Romany is getting married in a few weeks time. India and Milla are very excited to be bridesmaids with their cousins Elena and Sofia coming over from Brazil for the occasion.
Hope your summer is going well.
Joss.
June 2011'Moorea' or 'Moo' has arrived at my yard. A beautiful mare who is a stunning Novice horse with bags of potential for the future. Vicky Tuffs produced her to this point and now I can't wait to start my adventures with this lovely horse.
The season is going well with Lily having come 2nd in the Intermediate at Pontispool on Friday, following a win at Somerley. She now has advanced points and heading to Longleat CIC** next.
On the coaching front I leave for Indonesia tomorrow where I am training the International Team in preparation for the South East Asian Games which is to be held at home in Jakarta this year at the Arthayasa stables. I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone 10 years on.
On the BE coaching front I held a XC Coaching worksop at Tweseldown last week and I am at present trying to organise some dates for the U18's at King's Equestrian Bromyard and also at a yard near Chepstow. The dates will be on the British Eventing website soon.
All at Joss Gray Eventing is going great, with everyone getting out competing. Dan seems to have the most rides and is being very succesful. Anouska is now an event rider and enjoying her progress. Sadie, my new working pupil has a wonderful mare who is an excitingh prospect and is fun to teach.
Hope everything is going well for you all this season.
April 2011
Today I have been offered the position of BE Under 18 Coach for the Wales and Borders region. This is a really exciting opportunity, to get to know and help all the many talented and enthusiastic riders from that area.
Wow Mystic Pink (Lily) won her Intermediate at Somerley Park this week. Next stop will be Burnham Market CIC**. The going there was fantastic as we seem to be having a very dry spell.
I have been busy for the last few weeks looking for a new addition to my team of horses for a couple of my owners. Lots of travelling and getting to see some lovely yards and stud farms. All very interesting and great fun to do but still on the look out for a new superstar.
I am really enjoying this Spring, the yard has a good vibe to it with all the staff eager to campaign their horses this season.
Joss.
March 2011
At last! The Winter is nearly over and we are all chomping at the bit to get going. Two months ago when all was frozen and horses were like woolly Mammoths this all seemed forever away. I was lucky enough to grab some winter sun in Morocco with my family, courtesy of very generous owners. We spent a week in what was virtually a palace of unequalled luxury! Soon brought back down to earth though as December arctic weather came in. Since then the yard seems to be brimming with new horses and new faces all looking forward to this year ahead. I have new working pupil. Emma Collyer, Gillian Kirkham and Amy Biggs who all have their own horses here to compete. Frances is managing the yard brilliantly as ever and she also has a lovely new event horse which will make it an exciting time ahead for her! Dan(my top class groom) has been out this winter show jumping at the likes of the Premier show at Addington and getting top placings at Foxhunters. After all these indoor shows the fun begins this week, outdoors again hopefully if this rain eases off. My season starts at Tweseldown next week and can't wait to get going! Will be great to see everyone out there again....!
Good luck to you all this season!
